Opera’s new desktop browser, Opera 40 is now out of beta and available to the public, becoming the first major browser with a free virtual private network — courtesy of U.S.-based SurfEasy, which was acquired by the browser in 2015.
The VPN, which offers access to region-locked foreign content and is ostensibly more secure, automatically chooses the fastest server, but can also be manually set to Canada, the U.S., Germany, the Netherlands and Singapore.
The browser also brings with it a built-in ad blocker, a video pop-out feature that shows you a thumbnail of the streaming content while you browse and a new battery saver that the company used to challenge Microsoft’s Edge browser in a performance test.
