Oculus is refunding shipping costs due to Rift shipment delays

It looks like Facebook-owned Oculus is experiencing difficulties meeting demand for its recently launched virtual reality headset, the Oculus Rift.

Due to what the company is calling “component shortages” many Rift shipments have been delayed. In order to appease frustrated early virtual reality adopters, Oculus says that it will cover shipping costs for all affected customers.

Depending on your geographical region, shipping costs can be more than $100. Brendan Iribe, Oculus’ CEO confirmed the company’s decision via Twitter earlier today.

The early response to the Rift has been resoundingly positive, with most technology critics saying the device holds a significant amount of potential. However, many feel the release of the Rift’s Oculus Touch motion-controllers, which are set to come later this year, will be the headset’s true test, especially when compared head-to-head with HTC’s Vive.
