There seems to be a Uber or airBNB for everything these days, specifically in the liquor, food, drugs, and even kitten-related industries. The sharing economy and on-demand business is booming and Toronto-based Rover Parking has quickly found its own unique niche.
We previously profiled Rover when the company launched its iOS app, but the shared parking app has now made its way to Android. Rover connects drivers with unused parking spaces, allowing owners to earn up to $2 per hour for spots (Rover’s cut is 30 percent of the total transaction).
Shortly following its initial launch, the disruptive company ran into issues early on in its existence because its core business practice violates the bylaws of various Canadian municipalities.
However, Rover previously stated it’s working with governments and municipalities, both at the provincial and city level, to circumvent these issues and create regulations that work for both parties.
Rover’s parking app is now available on Android and iOS.
