June is a big month for Apple. Though the company has dedicated events for the iPhone and the iPad, the company’s Worldwide Developer Conference is never disappointing.
Apple has done a lot in the last year. We’ve seen two new iPhones, a smartwatch, new iPads, and a new Macbook that ditches all of the regular ports for a single USB-C connection. However, WWDC 2015 is shaping up to be most exciting ones yet thanks to rumours of a music streaming service and a revamp for Apple TV.
Now that the Apple Watch event is behind us, discussions on an Apple TV refresh are getting some serious air time. Earlier this week, the Wall Street Journal reported that Apple would unveil a new Apple TV in June. Those rumours said Apple was in talks with several broadcasts, including ABC, CBS, Walt Disney and Fox, to offer about 25 channels. According to new information posted to Buzzfeed News, Apple will bring aspects of its mobile experience to the living room.
Even though iOS and OS X are becoming increasingly similar, the Apple TV UI is more iTunes than anything else and it hasn’t changed much over the last few years. BuzzFeed says this new generation will bring an improved OS complete with an Apple TV SDK, App Store, and Siri integration. BuzzFeed’s sources say the hardware will also see a significant overhaul, with a massive bump in storage, a brand new design, some breed of the company’s own A8 chip, and support for Homekit.
