Xiaomi president confirms $45 billion valuation

Earlier this month, word got out that Xiaomi had raised over a billion dollars in funding, bringing the company to a $45 billion valuation. The company had up until now remained quiet on the rumours, but Xiaomi’s president on Monday took to Facebook to confirm the reports.

Bin Lin wrote that thanks to investments from All-Stars Investment, DST, GIC, Hopu Fund, Yunfend Captial and others, the company had completed a new round of funding worth $1.1 billion US dollars. The company is now officially valued at $45 billion.

“This is an affirmation of Xiaomi’s stellar results in four years, and heralds a new phase for the company,” Lin wrote. “We will strive to continue bringing innovation to everyone, with a goal of producing high-quality, high-performance devices with great user experience. In January 2015, we will be unveiling our next flagship device. Big thanks to all Mi fans, business partners and investors for your strong support.”

Xiaomi’s smartphones are so far only available in Asia but IDC puts Xiaomi at number three for global smartphone marketshare and the last few months have brought rumours that the company is preparing for a North American debut with the as-yet-unannounced Mi5. Last we heard, the company was going to be at CES and it’s thought we might see the Mi5 unveiled as early as next week.
