Microsoft reportedly readying ‘selfie’ Lumia while HTC porting the M8 to Windows Phone

According to The Verge, Microsoft is set to unveil two new Windows Phone 8.1 devices, one of which focuses on high-quality front-facing ‘selfie’ photos, and the other on excellent rear shots using the PureView branding.

Though Nokia has been integrated into Microsoft’s Devices & Services division, Stephen Elop, former CEO of the Finnish company, is still in charge of the devices division within his new (and former) organization.

According to reports, the ‘selfie’ device, codenamed Superman, will feature a 4.7-inch display and a 5MP front-facing camera, while the second device, Tesla, will sport a PureView-branded rear shooter and an affordable price.

It’s unclear when Microsoft will announce these products, but Nokia Canada has been teasing a number of new devices for late summer, so such proclamations would certainly correlate.

Also of interest is that HTC is expected to launch a version of its One M8 running Windows Phone 8.1. According to a number of sources, the device will have identical specs to the Android version, and will come with an equivalent to its DotView case compatible with Microsoft’s platform.

Codenamed W8 and expected to be a Verizon exclusive in the U.S., it will have the name ‘One (M8) for Windows’ and likely come preloaded with Windows Phone 8.1 GDR1, which will feature a number of improvements. It will also feature the phone’s Duo Camera and BoomSound setup.
