Nokia may be on the verge of becoming a Microsoft company, but until such a time it is business as usual. And usual business often means product launches.
On October 22nd, Nokia is holding its annual conference, Nokia World, in Abu Dhabi, the capital of United Arab Emirates and one of the more unusual places to host such an event. Expected at the one day event are the launch of the Lumia 1520, a 6-inch Windows Phone device with a 20MP PureView camera, and the Lumia 2520 Windows RT tablet.
Neither device has been confirmed by Nokia, but we’ve seen leaks of both. With the impending integration of the company’s manufacturing, sales and engineering teams into Microsoft’s new devices & services mandate, it will be interesting to see whether these devices will be the last with Nokia’s branding. During the announcement, it was said that Nokia’s name would be dropped from future smartphones, though the ‘Lumia’ brand would live on at Microsoft.
