Firefox has updated its mainline browser today, both on mobile and desktop, to version 23. While there are numerous improvements available for Windows and OS X, we’re going to focus on the Android version, which has a few new tricks of its own.

The app now reads better, with new open-source fonts that look amazing on high-definition displays. The Awesome Bar, that unified entry box used to search and enter addresses, now hides when scrolling down a page, much like Chrome for Android, and holding down on it brings up a list of improved options.

Reader Mode, a method used to parse large swaths of text into a more presentable format, has been updated with new font choices and quicker access on a per-tab basis. Users can also now enter a default search engine other than Google, though we’re sure most users won’t be changing it.
