Halfbrick Studios, an Australian game firm known for ultra-replayable games like Fruit Ninja, Jetpack Joyride, Monster Dash and, most recently, Fish out of Water, is preparing to release a new arcade game titled Colossatron: Massive World Threat.
The gist is simple: a murderous, destructive alien worm outfitted with a series of upgradeable weapons has taken occupancy of the earth, and your job, as Colossatron, is to destroy as much property as possible.
The story is buoyed by a cheesy fictional news channel and a series of bumbling military generals intent on limiting your destructive reign. The game is reminiscent of Japanese anime arcades from the 80’s, and should find a large audience on mobile devices.
Halfbrick is hinting at multiplayer cooperative play and leaderboards, and we’re likely looking at a freemium payment model.
Look for Colossatron: Massive World Threat to become available in the coming weeks for iOS and Android.
