Samsung may be attempting to do with the Galaxy Note series what it did in 2011 with the Galaxy Tab. According to benchmark site GLBenchmark, Samsung has been testing a 7.7-inch version of its popular Note device.
The rumoured tablet is equipped with a 1.6Ghz quad-core processor, likely the same Exynos 4412 that resides in the Galaxy Note II. At this stage the slate’s resolution is a disappointing 1280×800 pixels, for a pixel density of 196ppi. While this is perfectly fine for a small tablet and only slightly less dense than the Nexus 7, for example, it would have been nice to see Samsung go the Full HD route.
Other than those preliminary specs we have very little to work with here. The tab is expected to debut with Android 4.1.2, but it’s possible Samsung could boost it to Android 4.2 by the time of its release. There’s a good possibility we’ll see the device at CES, but it’s more likely Samsung will wait until Mobile World Congress in February to make the announcement.
