Samsung Galaxy Note ICS upgrade delayed until Q2 because they’re making it more awesome

We have good news, and we have bad news. Good news is that the Samsung Galaxy Note Android 4.0 upgrade is going to be even more awesome than it already was supposed to be when released sometime in late Q1. The bad news is that awesomeness will have to wait until some time in Q2. This is coming straight from Samsung itself, but we can’t help but think that a delay is a delay and they shouldn’t have promised anything in the first place.

According to the press release, “The Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade brings an entirely new look and feel to Android on GALAXY Note, with a more intuitive user interface that includes a redesigned App menu for easier multi-tasking. The upgrade also introduces innovations such as Face Unlock, Snapshot, and others.

There will also be a Premium Suite of S Pen-enabled apps, with improved versions of S Note and My Story, both of which were introduced during MWC with the Galaxy Note 10.1.

We don’t have word on when the Canadian carriers will be receiving their ICS upgrades, but the first devices that will likely get it are the international N7000 models. The LTE version available in North America run a different chipset and according to Samsung, “the availability and scheduling of the software upgrade will vary by market and wireless carriers’ requirements.”
