Poynt has surpassed an incredible milestone today, one that many Canadian developers never see. Their location-based app was launched in July 2008 and has now reached the 10 million user mark. The app is available on the iPhone, Android, Windows Phone, Nokia and BlackBerry (smartphones and the PlayBook) in Canada, U.S., UK, Germany, France, Italy, Spain and Australia – so they truly have expanded in both platform reach and global reach. Although there’s no clear indication to which mobile OS is the most popular, the company stated they’ve experienced a 162% growth in the last year and 900% growth in the past two years. The surge is due to the greater smartphone adoption and that the app comes pre-loaded on several carrier BlackBerry handsets.
Congrats to everyone at Poynt!
