Here’s a good turn of events for new-entrant Public Mobile. They operate in both Toronto and Montreal and currently offer a couple simple talk and text plans: $24 and $40 plan. We’ve been sent an internal doc that shows they will be launching a new promo tomorrow until the end of the year that sees added features and a price drop.
Here are the details:
The $24 plan stays the same but for 6 months you’ll get Unlimited calling, call waiting, call forwarding and 3-way calling, plus the addition of Caller Display, basically saving you $30. Next is a newly created plan for an incredibly affordable $25 that gives you the $24 plan plus Unlimited Canadian and International Text Messaging and Unlimited Canadian and U.S. long distance (for 6 months)… a combined savings of $120. So for an extra buck you get more value. Crazy deal… and yes the $40 plan will be permanently dropping to $35/month.
Also, handset price drops are also coming:
ZTE-C70 stays the same at $55
Kyocera Tomo will be $50 (was $110)
Samsung R312 will be $55 (was $125)
Kyocera G2GO will be $65 (was $140)
Competition is certainly alive in Canada. Nice work Public Mobile.
