Earlier today Samsung, Microsoft and IDC held a meeting and talked about Canadian wireless. The topic was titled “The Mobility Tsunami: Smartphones, Apps and the New Business Frontier”. Tony Olvet, VP Research at IDC Canada said that their research shows that Canadians want reliability when looking for a wireless carrier and that Smartphone adoption is increasing… there are currently 5.2 million Smartphones in use today and is expected to “dominate” the market by 2014. An interesting point when Olvet spoke about a survey they conducted of 500 Canadians and what the most desirable attributes/features they look for in a phone:
Smartphones: WiFi, QWERTY and Touchscreen
Traditional devices: Battery Life, Digital Camera, Size and Weight
