“The GSMA would like to congratulate all those who have been nominated in this year’s Global Mobile Awards,” said Michael O’Hara, Chief Marketing Officer at the GSMA. “Our judging panel certainly had their work cut out – the 105 nominees from across 18 categories have been chosen from more than 500 high quality entries, and to be one of the shortlisted companies is a fantastic achievement. We look forward to recognising and celebrating the innovation, ingenuity and creativity of our winners at the afternoon awards presentation and evening celebration party in Barcelona next month.”
The Global Mobile Awards includes categories for Mobile Marketing, Best Mobile Contribution to Social & Economic Development, the Green Mobile Awards and Mobile Entertainment, which includes awards for games, music and video, advertising and social networking. At the Congress Party & Awards Celebration at the National Palace in Barcelona on Tuesday 16th February, three high-profile awards for the year will also be presented, including Best Mobile Handset, the GSMA Chairman’s Award and Mobile Industry Personality of the Year. The evening event will also be hosted by Stephen Fry and will culminate with a headline performance by one of the world’s most famous bands, Duran Duran.
The global final of the Mobile Innovation Grand Prix competition, part of the Global Mobile Awards, will also take place at this year’s Mobile World Congress. Over the past year, four regional tournaments have taken place around the world and two finalists from each tournament will compete in Barcelona for the Mobile Innovation Grand Prix title. The overall winner will also be announced at the awards presentation on Tuesday 16th February.
The Global Mobile Awards presentation is open to Mobile World Congress conference gold and platinum pass holders, award nominees and all accredited press attending the event.
