Dell officially entered the smartphone market today with their “Dell 3 Mini” Smartphone, this will be available late November through China Mobile and by the end of year at Brazilian carrier Claro. The Dell 3 Mini has not yet been announced for a US, European release or any of our Canadian carriers.
The specs are still a bit unclear but it’s know that the Mini 3 comes with a 3.5-inch touchscreen, 3 megapixel camera, Bluetooth support and as the China Mobile spokesperson said “We are excited for Dell to be among the first manufacturers to introduce new technology based on the OPhone platform”. Even in Dell’s press release they state that “The initial Mini 3 smart phones are designed around the Android platform to best deliver power, flexibility and customization opportunities for both users and carriers.”
With the word “initial” it sounds like there will be a full lineup of devices planned. So Canadians… is this a device you can see yourself using? Would you be proud to carry around a Dell Smartphone?
Ron Garriques, President, Dell Global Consumer Group said “Our entry into the smart phone category is a logical extension of Dell’s consumer product evolution over the past two years. We are developing smaller and smarter mobile products that enable our customers to take their internet experience out of the home and do the things they want to do whenever and wherever they want.“
