Google Pixel 2 ad takes a small jab at Apple’s iPhone

Google’s new Pixel 2 advertisement is surprisingly quite good.

It features quick snippets of people asking questions about the Pixel 2 XL and the narrator — who is actually Google Assistant — answering various questions about the device.

The ad shows off many of the Pixel 2 XL’s marquee features, such as how integrated Google Assistant is with the handset, as well IP67 water/dust resistance and Google Lens integration. The advertisement also mentions the ability to save unlimited photos with the Pixel 2 XL and does so while taking a shot at the iPhone’s limited storage.

In the video, a woman asks if the storage on the device will ever be full. Next, an iOS style ‘Storage Full’ messaged pops up above her face. The narrator of the video then says “No,” answering her question.

The Google Pixel 2 XL and Pixel 2 offer free cloud storage until 2020.

As a side note, it’s interesting that the ad only mentions the Pixel 2 but only shows the Pixel 2 XL.

While Google’s Pixel 2 XL has been relatively well-received, a number of significant issues have popped up since the phone’s release, including screen burn-in and a whining sound present during video recordings, as well as random reboots during the day.
