There’s a new Pokémon game for iOS and Android, though it’s not likely the title you were expecting.
If you’re familiar with the Pokémon franchise, you can probably recall putting Magikarp in your party in order to get it to level 20 to evolve the Pocket Monster into a significantly more powerful Gyarados. Until evolving into this upgraded form, Magikarp’s only attack is the very ineffective ‘Splash.’ Also, Magikarp is a rather hilariously dopey looking Pokémon.
Now, however, Magikarp has its very own game. In the recently released title, your task as the player is to catch Magikarp and train the Pokémon to jump as high as possible.
This involves feeding the creature berries and training it in a number of different mini-games, before eventually competing in the ‘jumping league.’
As you may have guessed, Magikarp Jump is free-to-play with in-app purchases. Magikarp Jump is available on both iOS and Android.
