This week on the SyrupCast, Igor Bonifacic, Patrick O’Rourke, Zach Gilbert, and Rose Behar give the low down on the fight for net neutrality in Canada.
On April 20th, the CRTC ruled that Videotron’s zero rated Unlimited Music service could no longer operate in its current form given the carriers preferential treatment of certain customers and music streaming platforms.
The CRTC also went on to use this ruling as a means of strengthening their stance in favour of net neutrality by introducing stricter regulations regarding differential pricing. These new guidelines has a Trump advisor in the U.S., a country that recently opted to go the opposite direction in regards to net neutrality, up in arms.
