Just before it released Android O to developers, Google announced it was adding shortcuts to Search.
Available on mobile and within the Google app, shortcuts help take the guesswork out of what Google search can do at any given moment. For instance, the ‘Nearby’ tab reveals Google’s search engine can pinpoint the location of close by ATM machines, while the ‘Fun’ tab allows users to pass some time with a game of tic-tac-toe.
Even if you’ve used Search for a long time, you may be surprised by some of Google’s functionality; after all, it’s hard to see how games of tic-tac-toe figure into Google’s mission of organizing the world’s information.
Google is currently rolling out shortcuts to Search app and mobile users in the U.S. No word yet on Canadian availability, but it’s likely users here will see the feature before long. In the meantime, check out the feature in action in the video above.
