While Samsung spent much of its Sunday evening news conference talking about the Note 7 and the cause of that smartphone’s overheating issues, DJ Koh, the head of the company’s mobile division, also gave some attention to the Galaxy S8.
While it was only a brief mention, Koh revealed that Samsung will, breaking with what has become an annual tradition for the company, not reveal its next flagship smartphone at the Mobile World Congress tradeshow in Barcelona, Spain.
Koh did not comment on when the company plans to launch the handset. However, the latest rumour, corroborated by multiple leaks, suggests Samsung will launch the S8 by mid-April.
When the company does reveal the S8, it’s expected to do so at a separate New York City event.
