While rumours have been swirling for a few weeks now, with the most recent reports stemming from a Starbucks employee guide, Niantic and the Pokémon Company have now confirmed that more Pokémon are coming to Pokémon Go on December 12th.

Other than this small piece of information, nothing else is known.
However, it’s likely that the Pokémon hitting the title are from the series’ second generation Gold and Silver Pocket Monsters, which means fan favourites like Ledyba, Teddiursa and starters, Cyndaquil, Totodile and Chikorita, will be added to the game.
Despite Pokémon Go waning in mainstream popularity, the game remains extremely profitable and sits at the top of both the Play Store and App Store. Niantic has been rapidly adding new features to the mobile title as well, revamping its broken nearby system and releasing Ditto, a shapeshifting purple blob Pokémon.
