Pebble has released a new firmware update for its Pebble Time line of smartwatches.
The update adds new features to the watch’s weather tracking functionality as well as its dedicated health application. Most important of all, it also gives Pebble Time the devices the ability to display the summer appropriate fire emoji.
“The weather info delivered daily to your Pebble Timeline is now also accessible on-demand from our official Weather app. Powered by The Weather Channel, get the current temperature, current conditions, highs and lows for the day, and the next day’s forecast. Manage your Weather settings from the Apps tab of the Pebble mobile app,” writes Pebble in a recent blog post about the update.
In terms of Pebble’s Health app, the sleep and step algorithms used to record data have been upgraded for greater accuracy. Pebble’s mobile graphics also now include the last time they were updated and feature a revamped user interface.
“We’ve enhanced the step and sleep algorithms in version 3.13 for greater accuracy. Pebble Health is now smarter when accounting for movements made while sleeping—keeping them from being logged as steps. Pebble Health’s mobile graphs now include the last time updated, clearer messaging, support for 24-hour time, and more,” writes Pebble.
Only the Time version of the Pebble will be update with the Pebble Classic and Pebble Steel remaining on firmware version 3.12.1.
Pebble recently launched a Kickstarter for the Pebble Time 2, Pebble 2 and Pebble Core that’s earned over $10.5 million so far with 21-days still to go in the campaign.
