A month ago, Wind Mobile became the first carrier to offer cell service in TTC subway stations. The carrier partnered with BAI Canada and the TTC to enable its customers to use their devices while on the platforms of St. George, Bay, and Bloor-Yonge stations.
Announced today, but live since Friday, Wind customers can now make calls, send texts, and use data in 15 stations, including Spadina, Museum, Queen’s Park, Osgoode, St. Patrick, St. Andrew, Union, King, Queen, Dundas, College, Wellesley, St. George, Bloor-Yonge, and Bay station on Line 2.
While there is no further detail, Wind noted in an email to us that “work is underway for further network expansion to increase the number of stations with Wind Mobile wireless coverage.”
Ken Ranger, CEO of BAI Canada, said at the official announcement last month that “we’ve installed wireless infrastructure and launched TCONNECT Wi-Fi at each of the TTC’s downtown subway stations, with the target of having wireless at every subway station in 2017.”
