Apple: “The days of waiting in line and crossing fingers for a product are over”

The days of lining up outside of your local Apple Store for its latest product could be numbered. According to a leaked internal document, posted by Business Insider, Apple is marking ‘a significant change in mindset’ in how it approaches retail sales.

With the upcoming Apple Watch launch, Apple retail chief Angela Ahrendts shared her thoughts with employees. “The days of waiting in line and crossing fingers for a product are over for our customers. The Apple Store app and our online store make it much easier to purchase Apple Watch and the new MacBook. Customers will know exactly when and where their product arrives,” she wrote.

Ordering products online or through the Apple Store app will help Apple manage inventory levels, as there is “more availability online” than in a physical retail location. Ahrendts reiterates that to “make their day,” Apple employees are instructed to “show [customers] how easy it is to order.”

It is expected that launch day Apple Watch inventory will be low. Pre-orders are going live on April 10th at 3:01am (EST), followed by an official release two weeks later on April 24th.
