TD Canada Trust recently rolled out the option for text message-based communications, and now it seems a revamp of its iOS and Android is in the works. Both apps currently give customers the ability to check balances, transfer funds, locate branches, and cheque deposits.
TD teased on Twitter that its “redesigned TD app for iPhone and Android is coming soon – and [they’re] better than ever.” The financial institution was vague on specifics but noted that it involves enhancements to the UI and a slew of unknown added features. The current versions are mostly HTML5-based web wrappers, which don’t provide the smooth transitions and scrolling of a native app.
iOS users are certainly looking forward to Apple Pay, the company’s mobile payment and digital wallet service. Various analysts have pegged Apple Pay to arrive in Canada as early as this month, but Apple has committed to expanding outside of the US in the near-term. TD hinted that there’s still a great deal of work ahead to bring this to Canadians, stating, “We’re still waiting on Apple Pay in Canada too.”
