HTC released the RE Camera in several countries in November and Canadians saw this camera accessory arrive early December via Staples. HTC’s goal was to introduce a new device into its portfolio and expand past beyond tablets and smartphones. There has already been rumours that a second generation RE Camera is in the works.
Curious to know how sales have been so far? Well, according to a report by DigiTimes, Jack Tong, president of HTC North Asia, stated that the company is on track to surpass 20,000 units by the end of 2014.
The RE Camera is a simple point-and-shoot 16MP fixed-focus camera that connects wirelessly with an Android or iOS smartphone. It sports a 1/2.3″ sensor and ultrawide f/2.8 lens, captures 120fps slo-mo at 720p or 60fps 1080p video, and is IP57 water and dust resistant.
