We’re going to be treated to the launch of the LG G3 in the coming weeks — May 27th to be exact — but in the meantime, the device has been leaking left, right and internet.
Today, PhoneArena is the source of the latest leaks, a trio of press renders for the black, white and gold variants of the G3. We still don’t know much about that black area to the left of the camera sensor — we believe it to be a low-powered laser to aid in autofocus — but the rest of the device looks markedly similar to its predecessor. The volume and power buttons have been redesigned, and we’re hoping the backing, which looks metallic, is less slippery than before, but the G3 is immediately recognizable. Indeed, it resembles the bespoke G2 that LG designed for Verizon last year.
We can now clearly see that there will be a two-tone flash, and we’ve heard that while camera sensor will still be 13MP with optical image stabilization, it will be a bigger, with a faster aperture.
The device’s 5.5-inch display will reportedly have a mouthwatering resolution of 2560×1440, making it one of the first devices on the market with a 500+ ppi pixel density. It’s also believed that the G3 will be the first to-market device with Qualcomm’s upgraded Snapdragon 805 SoC.
