Crazy times over at Mobilicity.
A filing by Ernst & Young, the company who was appointed by the Court to assist stakeholders during its restructuring, has revealed that Steward Lyons, Mobilicity’s President, will be departing the company on October 31st. Moving into his prime spot is current Chief Customer Officer (CCO), Anthony Booth.
Lyons became President of Mobilicity on November 18th, 2011 when Dave Dobbin suddenly decided to leave the company “to pursue other interests.” Booth came to Mobilicity in April of 2011 with no telecom experience and is a brand developer, holding numerous VP positions at Mars Canada and Procter & Gamble. The “Now That’s Smart” tagline was his creation.
No word on what Lyons will be doing next, but he’ll probably pop up in another telecom role, possibly under John Bitove’s ‘Feenix Wireless Inc.’
Update: A statement from Stewart Lyons confirmed the news of his departure, noting that “I’m proud of the team at Mobilicity and what we accomplished but it’s time for me to move on to another opportunity. I wish Mobilicity nothing but success as the company goes through this process.”
Update – October 31st: Stewart Lyons has officially departed Mobilicity today, leaving the carriers future in the hands of Anthony Booth. Lyons stated in a conversation with us that he’ll be coming back to telecom with an unknown B2B ISP provider as a partner.
Update – January 6th, 2014: Stewart Lyons has taken a new position at TeraGo where he’ll be the President and CEO of the company, plus a member of the Board of Directors.
