Telus sent some Koodo customers special $50/120GB plan offers as part of a larger push for Koodo customers to migrate last week.
Last week, I wrote about an email I received from Telus offering me $60/120GB and $65/200GB plans. However, those were the only offers Telus sent out. A long-time MobileSyrup reader reached out to let me know they received an offer for $50/120GB from Telus the same day I did.
Like my offer, the $50/120GB plan was for bring-your-own-phone (BYOP) or for financing a device. Telus also offered them a Pixel 9 with $5.20/mo financing, a notably worse deal than the company’s ongoing $0 financing Pixel 9. As with the other offers, this one includes a special promo code and is exclusive to the 10-digit number listed in the email.
While it’s not immediately clear why Telus didn’t offer me the $50/120GB plan as well, I think I have a pretty good idea. As I wrote last week, I currently have a $49/75GB 5G plan with Koodo (thanks to recent price hikes), so the $50/120GB plan likely isn’t enough of a monetary increase for Telus to offer it to me.
But the reader who shared the plan with me noted they are on a $29/60GB 4G plan, so Telus getting them up to $50/mo would be a win for the company. At least, that’s my theory.
Anyway, the $50/120GB plan is a fair bit better than Telus’ current plans, which I just wrote about here. The closest current plan is Telus’ $60/100GB plan, which is both more expensive and has less data than the $50/120GB offer.
Anyway, any Koodo customers out there will want to keep an eye on their emails for any more special offers like this as you could end up with a decent deal, depending which offer you get and what plan you’re currently on.
