Koodo joins Fido, Virgin with $5/mo price hike on plans

Like the others, Koodo also reduced how much data you get with some plans

Telus-owned Koodo is the latest of the Big Three flanker brands to raise prices. It follows after Rogers’ Fido and Bell’s Virgin Plus, which both raised prices by $5/mo on select plans earlier this week.

Koodo’s changes are as follows:

  • $49/20GB ($44 with autopay) – previously $44/50GB ($39 with autopay)
  • $54/40GB ($49 with autopay) – new
  • $59/60GB ($54 with autopay) – previously $54/60GB ($49 with autopay)

When factoring in the autopay discount, Koodo’s new plans match Virgin’s pricing and Fido’s pricing (also after autopay).

The plans all include 4G data with speeds capped at 100Mbps and unlimited Canada-wide calling and texting. The 60GB plan is the only one to offer a free perk option, such as an unlimited long-distance pack.

Koodo’s plans are arguably the worst of the flanker brands, thanks to the lower data speed cap. Both Virgin and Fido cap their 4G speeds at 150Mbps.

Koodo still offers a $30/mo talk and text plan ($25 after autopay) and a $37.50/2GB 4G plan.

You can check out Koodo’s plans here, though I wouldn’t recommend them when better options exist from the likes of Freedom Mobile and Public Mobile.
