Creed: Rise to Glory players can train under the legendary Rocky Balboa and even play as the Italian Stallion.
Balboa is exclusively available in the PlayStation VR version of the game. Along with Balboa, players can become Adonis Creed and take the boxer from amateur to champion.
The game will features a unique technology developer Survios is calling ‘Phantom Melee.’ The tech enables players to really feel like they’re boxing. It uses the robust motion controls to detect the players form and whether they’re actually throwing a punch, or just flailing their arms.
The result is a system that actually makes players box. It isn’t like a Wii boxing game — the controllers don’t just detect that there is movement, but how you move.
The game also strategically ejects players into a third-person view of their character, such as when they’re staggered or knocked down. This gives players a nice visual indication of whats happening and avoids another problem. If the camera remained in first-person, it would be awfully jarring for players to suddenly find their virtual selves lying on the floor while the player is still standing.
Creed: Rise to Glory is shaping up to be quite the boxing game. Survios has put in a lot of effort to make the game feel as good as it looks. Couple that with all-star boxers like Rocky Balboa and you’ve got a championship fighter.
It would be neat if the developers added in some real-life boxing legends as playable characters in the game. Imagine being able to play as Muhammad Ali or Mike Tyson, or even play against them in a battle for the championship.
The game is due out in the fall.
Rocky Balboa will next be seen in Creed II, which is set to hit theatres on November 21st.
