Microsoft’s Surface Book 2 is now available in Canada, with pricing starting at $1,979.
The Surface Book 2 marks the first full upgrade for this particular product line, though the original Surface Book received an upgrade last year that included additional battery life and a new Nvidia GeForce GPU.
The 2-in-1 comes in 15-inch and 13-inch display variants, though only the 13.5-inch version is currently available in Canada. It boasts 17 hours of battery life — a small update over its predecessor’s promise of 16 hours.
The base variant of the laptop stocks a 7th generation Intel Core i5 processor, 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. At the top end, the device can be specced up to a quad-core 8th generation Core i7 processor, 16GB of RAM and 1TB of internal storage for $3,849.
Below is the full list of variants and pricing:
- 8GB of RAM/256GB Intel i5 – $1979.00
- 8GB of RAM/256GB Intel i7 – $2,649.00
- 16GB of RAM/512GB Intel i7 – $3,249.00
- 16GB of RAM/1TB Intel i7 – $3,849.00
The new Surface Book also comes equipped with a Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 with 6GB of RAM. The company says the laptop is capable of playing Gears of War 4 and Forza 7 at 1080p 60fps.
As for ports, potential customers have no need to choose between USB technologies; Microsoft opted to include a USB-C port in the laptop, as well as standard USB ports.
In addition to its own channels, Microsoft is also selling the Surface Book 2 at Best Buy and Staples Canada.
