The Google Pixel 2 XL has run into yet another major issue.
Following widespread issues with display burn-in and audio, buyers are now experiencing a far more problematic complication: there’s no Android operating system on some handsets being shipped.
Multiple reports on Reddit reveal users are receiving brand new Pixel 2 XLs missing Android. The handset, on first boot, reads “can’t find valid operating system,” and will not go any further.
As of right now, there is no way to install the OS on Pixel 2 XL handsets with this problem, therefore Google must replace the device.
While the Pixel 2 XL’s quirks were mostly understandable, this one stands out in its oddness. From a development and production standpoint, it’s unclear how these OS-free devices went unnoticed before heading out the door.

Google announced the device has been fixed, “Google has reached out to us and confirmed that this problem has already been fixed. We asked for more details, and we will update this post when the company responds. Presumably, this was a manufacturing defect that has since been corrected,” according to 9to5Google.
