Nokia announces Android Public Beta for HERE Maps

Nokia’s HERE Maps is used by millions of people every day and is powering several companies’ platforms, including Uber. The app is available to iOS, Windows Phone and Android users.

Back in January, Nokia announced it had surpassed 2.5 million downloads on Android, and the company is now seeking feedback to improve its features by launching Android Public Beta for HERE Maps. Nokia says it’s “on a mission to make HERE the best map and location app across devices around the world and we need your help.”

Early adopters who sign up to become beta users will help “test drive the new interface and functionality changes” before it is released into the Play Store. This newest beta version brings users the option to long-press the display to share location info, get directions, or to start driving navigation.

Nokia notes it will be “rolling out new tests each month” and to be part of its Android Public Beta you’ll need to have an Android device running OS version 4.1 or higher, 1 GB of RAM, and a display between 4-inches to 6.9 inches.
