Telus has revised its update schedule with key dates smartphone and tablet software updates. The chart shows the recent announcement of Rogers’ Suretap Wallet support to Android and BlackBerry smartphones, as well as Android 5.1 Lollipop updates for many Android devices.
It seems the first wave of Suretap compatible devices, which is a platform that enables mobile payments, will be the Moto X (2014), HTC One M8, HTC One M9, Galaxy S5, Galaxy S6 and S6 edge.
As for key dates, the Galaxy S5, Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge are all scheduled to receive Android 5.1 in September. The HTC One M9 has a tentative date for Android 5.1 to arrive on August 14th (as previously reported), while the HTC One M8 is also scheduled for the same update sometime next month. July 18th is when the Moto X (2014) is expected to receive Android 5.1.
BlackBerry users will be happy to hear that “all seven” of Telus’ BlackBerry smartphones are slated to receive OS 10.3.2 on July 14th.
The company also released a blog post explaining its update procedure, warning that some updates can take between four weeks and six months to see the light of day.
