Google releases new Handwriting Input keyboard

Google has released a new handwriting keyboard for Android smartphones and tablets.

Called Google Handwriting Input, this new keyboard provides support for 82 different languages, and allows users to input text through both cursive and print writing. The actual process of inputing text can done either with a stylus or with one’s finger.

Perhaps best of all, however, is the fact that users can enter emojis by attempting to draw them.

Anyone that has an Android device with Ice Cream Sandwich (4.0.3) or higher can check out the keyboard. For those that think their handwriting is terrible, Google says to approach the keyboard with an open mind. “If you claim your handwriting is terrible, try it out and see if it can convince you otherwise,” says the company.

Once the keyboard is installed, it can be accessed just like any other keyboard. Exiting out of the keyboard is done by clicking on the globe icon next to the spacebar on the bottom or in the notification panel, depending on the device and Android version.

Google Handwriting Input is already available to download from the Google Play Store.
