Sony is rolling out Android 5.0.2 Lollipop for unlocked versions of the Xperia Z3 and Z3 Compact, according to numerous reports.
The update, which began in Europe earlier this month, brings all the standard Lollipop features to the devices, including lock screen notifications, improved performance, and an overhauled interface, but adds Sony-specific enhancements such as redesigned dialler, calendar and contact apps, and a boost to camera quality.
Users will also notice apps that previously couldn’t be transferred to external storage, such as larger games, now have that option, with a one-tap system that frees up much-needed internal storage on the devices.
Both the Xperia Z3 and its smaller Z3 Compact counterpart can be purchased from Sony’s online store for $699.99 and $599.99 respectively.
A similar update should be coming to carrier-branded devices in the coming weeks.
Update: Sony’s Xperia Tablet Z3 Compact should also be getting the Android 5.0 Lollipop update now. If you haven’t received a notification just yet, head to Settings/About device/Software update.
