Google Maps now lets you share step-by-step directions via any app

Google Maps

Google has pushed out a brand new version of Maps over on the Play Store. This version hasn’t yet rolled out to everyone, though the Play Store is showing a last updated stamp of January 14th.

The release notes for Google Maps still list the Yelp-like functionality that arrived with Maps 9.2. These include the ability to filter search results for restaurants according to cuisine, as well as option for businesses to claim their listing page and manage their Maps presence.

When Google gets around to updating the “What’s new” section for 9.3, it should include some pretty interesting new features. Android Police discovered that v9.3 also includes shareable point-to-point directions via the regular Android share menu. This will allow you to share a numbered, step-by-step list in text via any app you like.

If you want this now, you’ll have to sideload the APK. Otherwise, sit tight. The update should hit your phone in the next couple of days.
