Motorola debuted a new app with the Moto E today, and it’s a quick-and-easy way to ensure that friends and family know where you are in case of an emergency.
Motorola Alert allows users to call emergency services with one tap, as well as alert a contact, such as a parent or spouse, when entering a certain location. The app allows users to ping that person periodically with his or her last known GPS location, which is great for kids walking home from school or industry workers entering insecure locations.
If set, the app can also automatically alert a list of people when entering or leaving a certain location, and Home, Work and School addresses can be designated for instant sharing.
While the app is only currently available for the Moto E and Moto G LTE, it should be updated soon for the Moto X and Moto G 3G.
Curiously, the Play Store link points to Motorola Bodyguard, which indicates the Alert name was likely added quite recently.
