After being offered exclusively on the Nexus 5 since last year, the Google Now Launcher is available for all Nexus devices running Android 4.4 KitKat
While the actual launcher component is merely a stub placed on top of the Google Search/Now app, it does enable the useful ability of swiping to the left-most pane of the homescreen to access Google Now. When Nexus devices (other than the N5) were updated to Android 4.4, many users were frustrated that the feature was omitted.
The Launcher, at least at launch, is only available for Nexus and Google Play Edition devices running KitKat. Hopefully it expands to others soon.
Other features include larger icons, voice search by saying “OK Google,” transparency in the dock and notification area and more.
