BlackBerry reportedly ready to bring back the classic navigation keys and trackpad in future BB10 devices

When John Chen took his position as the CEO of BlackBerry he stated the company will be “going back to [their] heritage and roots.” The term was directed at servicing the core enterprise customers, but a new report in the Globe and Mail reveals the Waterloo-based company will be bringing back the classic navigation keys that used to appear on previous generations of their devices — yes, this includes the trackpad.

The Globe’s sources called this addition a “belt,” as it sits between the screen and the physical keys. While there is no mention on what devices will see this re-introduction appear, BlackBerry is reportedly readying to launch this sometime “later this year on phones powered by the BlackBerry 10 operating system.” BlackBerry declined to comment on the rumour.

BlackBerry will be be introducing the “Jakarta” at Mobile World Congress tomorrow, an all-touch BB10 device that will be heading straight for emerging markets.
