Brampton-resident Jeremiah Sammy has been crowned the king of the Canadian Mobile Phone Throwing Championship today. Mobilicity dreamed up the idea as part of Waste Reduction Week in Canada. Hopefully they continue it every year as it adds a bit of fun to the industry. Sammy chucked an old cellphone a total of 78.88 metres, thus setting a new Canadian record – the world record is owned by Finland’s Ere Karjalainen with a toss of 101.46 metres. Sammy scores himself the title, $5,000, a Samsung Galaxy S III, and unlimited service for a year.
