HTC hasn’t really kept true to its word on lowering the number of units it releases in 2012. In swift succession the company released the One X, One S and One V, and we thought that was going to be it for a while. But then the Desire C emerged with its entry-level specs, and now we’re looking at a follow-up to the One V, codenamed ‘Proto’.
The device is expected to one-up the One V in a number of areas, including a nice bump in processing speed courtesy of a 1Ghz dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor. The rest is pretty standard, though: 512MB RAM, 4GB internal storage, 5MP camera with flash, and 7.2Mbps HSPA+ baseband. But we’re intrigued at the bump in screen size: a 4-inch WVGA 800×480 pixel resolution.
Not sure when and where this will come to market, but considering HTC’s flagging fortunes this doesn’t sound like the hit they need.
