In December Google’s Android Developers released an updated distribution/fragmentation chart that showed 50.6% of Android devices were running OS 2.3 Gingerbread. Now a month later, Gingerbread has increased by 4.9% to 55.5% of Android devices. More importantly, this is the first month that OS 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich has made the list, taking 0.6% of “the number of Android devices that have accessed Android Market within a 14-day period” – which could give an indication of the Galaxy Nexus sales. Android OS 2.2 is still on many devices with 30.4%, but dramatically fell from 45.3% from last month.
