Huawei is bringing its buzzed-about Matebook X Pro with ultra-slim bezels and a pop-up camera to Canada for the price of $1,499 CAD.
The company told MobileSyrup in March that it didn’t “anticipate the MateBook X Pro being available for purchase in Canada,” however, it seems that’s not the case.
That being said, the laptop isn’t being sold directly by Huawei — the manufacturer’s Canadian website still shows only the 2016 MateBook. Instead, the laptop is being sold through the Microsoft Canada store, which helps to explain why Huawei didn’t expect to sell the device here.
As mentioned above, one of the most eye-catching elements is the 3000 x 2000 pixel resolution 13.9-inch display with a 3:2 aspect ratio, which is contained by barely-there bezels to provide an impressive 91 percent screen-to-body ratio.
But the pop-up camera was perhaps the more intriguing element to the public, a large demographic of which are more concerned than ever about privacy measures. The recessed camera comes up from the keyboard.
As for design, the MateBook X Pro has a full-metal uni-body that’s diamond cut at the edges and looks a bit like a MacBook Pro or MacBook Air.
It comes in two spec configurations through Microsoft Canada — an Intel Core i5 processor with 256GB of storage, or an Intel Core i7 processor with 512GB of storage.
