Samsung Galaxy S10 will have in-display fingerprint sensor, ultra-high pixel density: reports

Galaxy S9+

There’s already quite a bit of speculation regarding Samsung’s anniversary S-series smartphone.

One of the leaks to circulate in the rumour mills points to the Samsung s10 being the first device from the South Korean phone maker that sports an in-display fingerprint sensor.

This is not the first time, we’ve heard about the S10’s upcoming fingerprint sensor, however, there’s some new information regarding the scanner.

According to this report from Chosun Biz (and translated by SamMobile), the device will use an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensor that the company is developing itself. The company then plans on using this technology on home appliances, smart home devices and automobiles.

While previous rumours indicated that the Galaxy Note 9 will be the first Samsung flagship with this feature, this report suggests otherwise.

Another leak indicates that the S10 will feature a display with a more than 600 pixel per inch screen density, suggesting the display will be one of the handset’s hallmark features — as is often the case with Samsung.

When it comes to displays in general, anything over 400 ppi is generally considered to be quite good.

Previous claims indicate the phone will come out in January.
