Google Pay accumulates 100 million Android downloads

Google Pay

Google Pay, the search giant’s mobile payments platform, just achieved a major milestone.

On Wednesday, the app crossed the 100 million downloads threshold on the Play Store.

While the milestone is certainly impressive, it should be noted that the total includes previous Android Pay and Google Wallet downloads. In other words, yesterday’s milestone was years in the making.

Google is currently offering new Pay users a $10 Play Store credit when they make five payments within 30 days. Canadians have until May 14th to take advantage of the promotion.

Google launched Google Pay, then known as Android Pay, in Canada last May. At the start of the year, the company rebranded the platform to Google Pay.
