The original 151 Pokémon are now more common in Pokémon Go [Update]

Another chance to Catch 'Em All

Starting today and running for the next week, the original 151 Pokémon are now more commonly found in Pokémon Go.

The event is set to start at 4pm EST and when it does, trainers will be rewarded with double candies, resulting in an improved chance of evolving original Pokémon.

The other change is that Snorlax, Aerodactyl and some other first-generation Pokémon, are now Raid bosses for the duration of the event.

The game is also selling a new wave of special loot boxes that contain raid passes, allowing players to partake in as many new raids as possible.

This timed event lines up with the the shiny Kanto Pokémon sprites leak circulating earlier this week. It’s likely that players will soon begin encountering shiny first-generation Pokémon.

Update 10/04/2018 6pm: The update has been live for a few hours and it is now confirmed that all buddy walking distances are cut in half and some players are reporting on Reddit that lures are lasting for longer than an hour.

It is also confirmed that using a Pinap Berry will reward players with 12 candies per catch and transfers are worth two candies instead of the regular one, except on legendary Pokémon like Moltres.
