Pokémon Go for iOS updated to fix Google account permission issues

PokemonGogotw

Despite still not making its way to Canada yet, the iOS version of Pokémon Go has been updated to version 1.0.1. in the U.S. App Store.

Niantic Labs, the game’s developer, says this update includes crash fixes, stability solutions and solves issues related to how the game handles Google account permissions — though it’s worth pointing out many other free apps also feature similar “full access” requirements.

The company has also issued a statement, noting that Pokémon Go only accesses “basic” info related to the users’ IDs and email addresses.

“Google has verified that no other information has been received or accessed by Pokémon Go or Niantic,” wrote the company in a recent blog post.

Pokémon Go continues to suffer from server- and stability-related issues. It’s unclear when the game will roll out in Canada, though Niantic has stated it plans to start rolling out the popular game in Europe and Asia in just “a few days,” which could signal a Canadian release isn’t far off. There’s no word on when this update will make its way to Android.
